The International Imagery Association was founded in the late 1970’s
by Akhter Ahsen, Ph.D. to serve as a forum for the study of mental imagery
across a wide spectrum of disciplines.
It is the IIA’s purpose to:

promote mental imagery research which is based on the conviction that the fields of experimental and clinical psychology, sociology, education and art ultimately rely on the same principles and profit from the same theories provide a forum for discussion through national and international meetings, conferences, symposia, and study groups
encourage and foster the growth and development of mental imagery research and application through mutual cooperation and exchange of ideas on a global level enable researchers and practitioners to keep pace with the tremendous growth of new research and theory through the publication of the Journal of Mental Imagery.

The International Imagery Association holds a significant and distinct position, being solely dedicated to the study and application of mental imagery. It includes the most innovative thinkers and doers in imagery today and provides an integrated focus in the field.
